Google AdSense

Below are examples of Google AdSense ads. Each advert is generated through examining the content of the page to suit the audience.

 Google AdSense
If you have read the section on CPC you will already have a pretty good idea how you can use AdSense to make money from your website and Blog. If you want to use AdSense the first step you need to take is apply for an account with Google AdSense www.google.com/adsense , you enter your details and the url of the website you are wishing to use AdSense on. Goole then reviews your website or Blog and you will get a reply saying if your application has been successful. Generally most sites are accepted but there are a list of sites which Google does not recommend as they contain material such as adult content.

Once you are approved you can now add adverts to your webpage, full details are explained how to do this in your account section, its pretty straight forward as it is mainly just copping and pasting script into your website.
If you are good at programming you can take this a step further and tailor the attributes of the adverts to suit your needs. Again details of this are on the Google AdSense website so it would be pointless for me to copy what has already been written! What I would recommend is a great book which takes you through step by step of making money from your website. It is called "Google Advertising Tools" (shown left) , if you click on the cover it will take you straight to Amazon and it usually dispatches in 1-2 days. As with all the O'reily books this is a no-nonsense book and explains everything in plain English, I highly recommend it!

Not only does this book take you through AdSense it also shows you how to make your website more Google friendly by showing you techniques to Optimise Your website (SEO) and increase your search ranking, thus increasing traffic!

How AdSense works!

I'm not in anyway going to try and explain the programming language of AdSense, as firstly, I cant, and secondly, to use it you don't really need to understand the language! Its pretty much a straight out of the box package and takes you through step by step how to integrate AdSense to your website or Blog.
What I will mention though is how the ads are generated for your website, this is pretty clever. What the software basically does is read the text of the webpage it is placed on and picks out common keywords and phrases. For example, so far in this webpage I have used the word "AdSense"  thirteen times, as well as a few repeated phrases such as "How To". So Google will put these common words together and it will probably find a company on its advert database advertising "how to use AdSense"  or "How To Make Money With AdSense". This is just a guess, so until I upload this webpage to the server (which it will be hopefully now that you are reading it!) I don't know what type of adverts will be placed on my page.
So this is basically how the adverts are generated, to tie in with the content of the page. There are other parameters which allow you to block adverts which maybe you don't want on your website, competitors maybe? But again this is all explained on the AdSense website.

How much can I earn through AdSense?

As with all CPC/CPM adverts, how much you can potentially earn depends on the traffic amount on your website, and how targeted your web audience is. If you have a niche website you are more likely to get more clicks through on the adverts. But if you have a more general website you may have more visitors but less click. So what you can earn cant really be easily worked out, it can only be roughly calculated through guesswork and assumptions mixed in how much people have earned previously to you. But without going out there and trying it you wont get any real figures!

Give it a go, what have you got to lose!
